Taylor Borkowski, the founder and driving force behind the Hot Summer Nights series of events, is the recipient of the Volunteer of the Year Award, presented by the Chamber & Development Council (CDC) of Crawford County.

One of the nomination narratives submitted to the CDC says, “You’ve seen our streets filled with life, excitement, and unity, bringing back the feeling of hometown spirit all thanks to this person. She has worked relentlessly to transform Uptown Denison into a lively destination, where people of all backgrounds and ages come together to celebrate life locally. “

Borkowski was also recognized for playing an instrumental role in helping organize this year’s Tri City BBQ Fest when the CDC office was left short-handed.

Borkowski, who is an active member of the CDC Board, in the past year won the CDC’s Businesswoman of the Year Award and the Rotary’s Paul Harris Fellow Award.

She is also deeply involved in her church and the local schools.

Borkowski and her mother, Cindy, are the owners of The Cottage in uptown Denison. She is the mother of three children.

The narrative also says that Borkowski is a testament to a quote from last year’s Volunteer of the Year Award winner: “You get out what you put in, and I hope I never take more than I give.”
