Visitation for Joyce Petersen, 93, will be conducted from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at United Church of Christ in Schleswig with her funeral service following at 11 a.m.

Interment will be at the Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig.

She passed away March 17 in Texas.

Survivors include three children, Tim, of Massachusetts, Joel, of Texas, and Roxanne, of California, along with Joanne Catlin, Belinda Phelps-Petersen and Albert Richards; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Services are entrusted to the Huebner Funeral Home.

Dennis Backhaus

Funeral services for Dennis Backhaus, 82, of Westside, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 28, at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning with burial at the Manning Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning.

He passed away Monday, March 18, at Regency Park Nursing & Rehab Center in Carroll.

Survivors include four sons, David (Diane) Backhaus, of Liberty, Missouri, Rodney Backhaus, of Manilla (Kristin Backhaus of Waukee), Jerry (Carla) Backhaus, of Westside, and Bill (Jenny) Backhaus, of Griswold; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; siblings-in-law, Darlene (Tom) West, of Kimballton, Duane Deist, of Audubon, Ed (Vickie) Andersen, of Kirkman, and Joyce (Merlene) Ostebee, of Audubon; very special friend, Carol Peterson, of Westside; and many other relatives and friends.

Services are entrusted to the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning.
