Event will be at New Life Christian Church

This Saturday’s Las Posadas celebration will take place at a different location from the location previously announced.

The event will take place at New Life Christian Church at 1019 Ridge Road in Denison.

The Denison chapter of LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens) created the event as a smaller version of the traditional celebration that commemorates the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem in search of a safe refuge for Jesus to be born, according to LULAC Denison President Alma Puga.

Las Posadas is a religious festival celebrated in Mexico and other Latin American countries.

The Denison event will have food, piñatas, caroling, Lotería (a traditional game), and crafts for kids.

The event is free, but freewill donations are requested.

Donations go toward food and other items for the Las Posadas event, as well as other events and scholarships LULAC Denison gives each year.

The Denison Las Posadas begins at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, December 16.
