Mary Hargens, who began working at Don’s Inc. soon after its founding in 1973 and took over the ownership of the jewelry and gift business in 1991, was honored with a proclamation by Denison Mayor Pam Soseman. The proclamation named November 7 as Mary Hargens Day of Recognition in the City of Denison and encouraged all citizens, businesses, and institutions to consider following her example by treating one another with kindness, being sincere in all things, and giving back to their loved ones and community. Don’s Inc. celebrated its 50th year in business this past Friday and Saturday, and in the proclamation, reference was made to the business slogan of “Friendliest Corner in America.” The business is located on the corner of Broadway and Main Street. Hargens (second from left) is pictured with Soseman (second from right) and friends Jayne and Don Lyons.
