Monarch boys 10th at Ken Carstens Relays

A shorthanded Denison-Schleswig boys track and field team ended in 10th place with 32 points Tuesday at the Ken Carstens Relays in Harlan.

Underwood won the meet with 104 points, followed by Atlantic with 98.5, Harlan with 96 and Woodbine with 95. Rounding out the field of 10 teams were Thomas Jefferson with 88 points, Treynor with 73.5, Lewis Central with 58, Abraham Lincoln with 55 and OABCIG with 38

“We were pretty shorthanded tonight with a lot of activities going on,” said Head Coach Willie Baughman. “We continued to have good handoffs and we put together some good individual times.

“Our shuttle ran one of the fastest times I have had as a coach, which is promising,” he added. “Anthony Arambula had a good night running with a top 10 in the 200 and was close to a personal record in the 100. Jake Fink had a top 10 in the 400 hurdles for his first time running those.”
