Monarch girls fall in quarterfinal

The Denison-Schleswig girls’ basketball team led Carroll 11-10 after the first quarter before the Tigers when on a 21-11 run in the second period of last Wednesday night’s Class 4A Region 8 quarterfinal. Carroll ended up winning 53-42.

The Monarchs outscored Carroll 11-8 in the third quarter to come within six  points, 39-33. Carroll scored 14 points in the last period to eight for the Monarchs.

Mayah Slater rebounds and scores two on the inside in the quarterfinal game.

 
 

Whitlee Auen paced the Monarchs with 22 points. Kiana Schulz and Mayah Slater added five each, Addison Inman scored four, Gaby Cardenas put in three and Claire Leinen scored two points. 

Schulz brought down eight rebounds. Inman had six, Leinen had five and Slater and Cardenas had four each. Auen pulled down one rebound.
