Tickets for this year's "Fiesta Mariachi 2024" are now on sale through the Monarch Store on the Denison Community School's website.

The annual fundraiser and performance for the Denison Community School's mariachi program will be Saturday, April 13, in the Denison High School gym.

Tickets for "Fiesta Mariachi 2024" can be purchased online through the Monarch Store on the school website: www.denison.k12.ia.us.

The doors will open at 6 p.m. Traditional Mexican food will be served, and the music performances will start at 6:45 p.m.

"Fiesta Mariachi 2024" will feature performances by the Denison High School Mariachi and Denison Middle School Mariachi, along with guests from Storm Lake High School and Omaha Central High School. The evening will conclude with Mariachi Reyes del Oeste, Denison High School's top mariachi ensemble.

Funds raised each year at the annual "Fiesta" go towards new instruments, uniforms and travel expenses for the group.

On April 18, a group from DHS will travel to Denver for the first time to take part in the "Viva Southwest" Mariachi Festival.

The mariachi program at Denison Community Schools is in its 13th year. It was the first school mariachi program in Iowa when it started in 2011. Since that time, stable programs have developed in Storm Lake and Marshalltown, with other smaller programs getting started throughout the state.
