Fundraiser for Monarchs

The 2024 Monarch Booster Night of Comedy on Saturday night raised funds for the sports programs at the Denison Community School District. The featured performer at Night of Comedy was Jim Flannagan, from Illinois. He entertained with topical humor and even poked fun at a few of the audience members. Photos by Gordon Wolf

One of the items on the live auction was a pair of Monarch bag boards made with reclaimed Denison High School gym bleacher wood. The item, donated by Brandon and Jessie Boger, brought in $1,500. Another high auction item was an effort to bring Randy Grossman and Tom Hamilton out of retirement to hear them broadcast a game on KDSN Radio. Two people bid $2,200, so it was decided that the pair would broadcast a baseball and a softball game this summer. The price went even higher when a number of people added $100 each to the pot.
