Monarch girls 2nd, boys 8th at Tiger Relays

The Denison-Schleswig Monarch girls set 10 personal records en route to a second place finish at the Tiger Relays in Carroll on Monday.

Carroll won the girls’ meet with 91.5 points, followed closely by Denison-Schleswig with 90 points. 

Following are the placings of the other teams: South Central Calhoun, 3rd, 81 points; Woodward Granger, 4th, 68; IKM-Manning, 5th, 61; Ballard, 6th, 53; Audubon, 7th, 48; Perry, 8th, 42; Kuemper, 9th, 27; Greene County, 10th, 24.5.

Following are the event placings for the Monarch girls.

Sprint medley relay: Kamden Bruhn, Alejandra Cardenas, Kyia Clark, Lauryn Turin, 3rd place, 2:00.49

4x100 meter relay: Avery Bock, Lauryn Turin, Alejandra Cardenas, Kyia Clark, 4th place, 55.38

100 meter dash: Sam Chandler, 5th place, 14.20

200 meter dash: Kyia Clark, 5th place, 28.81

400 meter dash: Lauryn Turin, 2nd place, 1:05.44; Piomo Okwer, 4th place, 1:10.02

100 meter hurdles: Avery Bock, 2nd place, 17.63

800 meter run: Lola Mendlik, 4th place, 2:37.08; Alexa Tremblay, 6th place, 2:42.85, personal record

Monarch boys

The Denison-Schleswig Monarch boys scored 39 points and ended up in eighth place at the Tiger Relays at Carroll on Monday. The boys turned in 17 personal records.

Carroll was the meet winner with 104 points. Ballard placed second with 81 points. South Central Calhoun, East Sac County, MVAOCOU and Greene County all scored 65 points for third place. 

Following are the rest of the team placings: IKM-Manning, 5th place, 54; Audubon, 6th place, 51; Kuemper, 7th place, 43; Denison-Schleswig, 8th place, 39; Woodward-Granger, 9th place, 38; Exira-EHK, 10th place, 35; Perry, 11th place, 13.

Head Coach Willie Baughman listed the top 10 finishes in the 4x100 meter relay and the 4x200 meter relay as highlights for Denison-Schleswig.

“I was pleased with our handoffs tonight,” he commented. “I didn’t think we started the meet all that well but we did a pretty good job throughout the night.”
