Martha Cecilia Gallegos daughter of Arcelia Tovar was born November 22, 1968 in Mexico.  Martha was a devoted mother, sister, and friend, whose kind and nurturing spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.  She dedicated her life to putting her daughters, Tania and Nadya first in everything she did.  Martha’s love and selflessness knew no bounds, and she was a shining example of a mother’s unconditional love.

Martha excelled in management at APPA Foods, where her leadership and dedication were admired by all.  She was a hardworking and ambitious woman who poured her heart into everything she did.

Martha was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, where she found solace and strength in her faith.  Her unwavering belief in God guided her through life’s challenges and helped her fight a courageous battle with kidney disease.

Martha found joy in various hobbies.  She had a passion for cooking, watching soap operas, crafting, and dancing.  Martha’s creativity and artistic talents shined through in everything she touched, whether it was a delicious meal she prepared or a beautiful craft she created.

One of Martha’s favorite pastimes was attending the Iowa State Fair.  She also had a deep appreciation for nature’s beauty, particularly in flowers and butterflies, which brought her a sense of peace.  Martha enjoyed taking in the beauty of nature while exercising at Yellow Smoke in Denison.

Martha’s love for her daughters was unparalleled, and she cherished every moment spent with them.  She was a devoted mother who took great pride in watching them grow and succeed in life.  One of Martha’s favorite sayings to her daughters was “minus to try” she lived by this motto.  Martha’s daughters, Tania and Nadya, meant the world to her, and her legacy will live on through the love and values she instilled in them.

Martha will be remembered for her selflessness, courage, and unwavering faith.  She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Martha passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at UNMC attaining the age of 55 years 4 months and 18 days.

She was preceded in death by her mother Arcelia Tovar and nephew Emiliano Ramos.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Tania and Nadya Cortez both of Denison, IA; sister Pachita of Denison, IA; brother Felipe Gallegos of Mexico; nieces Cecilia, Ximena, and Vivyanna all of Denison, IA; many other relatives and friends.

A 1:00 PM memorial service was officiated by Rev. Pedro Lopez on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa.

Pauley Jones Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
